June 13, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

National Semiconductor Corp. has named Lewis Chew as its new CFO. Chew has been acting CFO since April 2001, when Donald Macleod, the then-CFO, was named COO. Chew has been with National Semiconductor since 1997. Previously, he was a partner at KPMG. He has a BS in accounting from Santa Clara University and is a CPA.

“Lewis is a key contributor to National’s success and a terrific addition to our executive team,” commented Brian L. Halla, chairman, president and CEO. “He has played a pivotal role in building National’s financial stability for more than four years. During the past few months, he has repeatedly demonstrated his readiness for this new assignment by serving as acting CFO during a downturn that has tested the financial management skill of every semiconductor company in the world.”

Chew stated, “It is a privilege to be part of National’s executive team. Don Macleod set a standard for excellence during his tenure as CFO and I look forward to continuing that momentum.”
