National Fuel Cell Research at UC Irvine's Award from CEC

The National Fuel Cell Research Center at the University of California, Irvine has received an award from the California Energy Commission (CEC) to analyze power systems and encourage movement of fuel cell technology into industry. The $305,733 grant was funded through the CEC's Public Interest Energy research (PIER) program.The PIER award furthers the center's plans to create computer analyses to examine the efficiency and environmental impacts of power-generating systems. The center also plans to develop an interactive website to educate people about energy."This is one of the first major awards to UCI's National Fuel Cell Research Center for accomplishing technology transfer, one of the primary goals of the center," stated Director Scott Samuelsen. "These funds will help establish the tools needed to understand and advance fuel cell technology.
