Nanjing Micro One Unveils ME7661 DC/DC Converter IC

October 29, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Nanjing Micro One Electronics Inc. (China) announced its new ME7661 dc/dc converter IC, which features high operational performance with low power dissipation. It can be powered off externally and has an on-chip RC oscillator. The device is housed in a 14-pin DIP or 14-pin SOP.

The chip is suitable for the power supplies of LCD panels, pagers, memory cards, calculators and similar hand-held equipment, as well fixed-voltage power supplies of battery-operated equipment, medical equipment and communications equipment.

The IC consists of two major parts - the booster circuitry and the regulator circuitry. The booster generates a doubled output voltage ranging from -2.4V to -12V at -1.2V to -6V input or a tripled output voltage of -3.6V to -12V at -1.2V to -4V input. The regulated voltage can be set to one of three threshold temperature gradients - 0.1 percent per degree C, 0.4 percent per degree C, and 0.6 percent per degree C. Conversion efficiency is rated at 95 percent (typical). The input voltage is from -6V to -1.8V and the minimum output voltage is -12V.
