Nanjing Micro One Introduces DC/DC Converters

September 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Nanjing Micro One Electronics Inc. (China) introduced its new charge pump dc/dc voltage converter modules, which employ AL-gate CMOS technology, utilize only two external capacitors and eliminate the need for inductors. They can convert input voltages ranging from 1.5V to 10V to a corresponding -1.5V to -10V output.

The voltage converter modules offer up to 99.9-percent conversion efficiency, and 98-percent power efficiency. They are compatible with the RS232 negative power supply standard, and no Dx diode is needed for high-voltage operation. ESD protection up to 3kV is also available.

The on-board oscillator operates at a nominal frequency of 10kHz. Operation below 10kHz for lower supply-current applications can be achieved by connecting an external capacitor from OSC to ground. The devices handle up to 120µA supply current. Output resistance is 110 ohms at 20mA or 220 ohms at 3mA.
