Murata Offers New TZR1 and TZY2 Series Capacitors

August 18, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Japan) has expanded its line of surface-mount, trimming capacitors with the addition of members to the TZR1 and TZY2 Series. The new products are suitable for use in WLAN systems, Bluetooth modules, keyless entry systems, in-circuit blocks and power amplifiers of wireless equipment.

Two new capacitors with a maximum capacitance of 1pF and 1.5pF and a self-resonant frequency >6.2GHz and >5.2GHz, respectively, were added to the TZR1 Series, while a device with a maximum capacitance of 1pF and a self-resonant frequency >4.8GHz was added to the TZY2 Series. The devices feature a minimum variable capacitance value of 0.5pF - lower than the 0.7pF value found in previous products - and a variance <0.5 percent for a 24-hour period.

The TZR1 Series is encased in a 1.5mm x 1.7mm x 0.85mm package, while the TZY2 Series comes in a slightly larger package measuring 2.5mm x 3.2mm x 1.25mm. Both contain no lead and can be reflow-soldered at a peak temperature of 260 degrees C.
