Murata AC-DC Front End Power Supply Achieves Climate Saver 80+ Gold Efficiency Rating

February 22, 2010 by Jeff Shepard

Murata Power Solutions has introduced a new ac-dc front-end power supply for hot-swapping redundant systems that meets Climate Savers’ 80+ Gold efficiency rating. The 2200W (220Vac), 1100W (110Vac), power-factor corrected D1U4CS-W-2200-12-HA4C has a main output of 12V and a standby output of 5V.

Designed for delivering reliable, high density bulk power to servers, workstations, storage systems and other 12V distributed power architecture applications, the D1U4CS-W-2200-12-HA4C is packaged in a 1U low profile enclosure with overall dimensions of 355.6 x 101.6 x 41.0mm (1.6in.). The new unit has built-in variable speed cooling fans and is N+1 redundancy capable including hot-docking. If required, four units can be packaged into an optional 19in. 1U power shelf to provide up to 8.8kW of power.

The D1U4CS-W-2200-12-HA4C has class-leading power density of 24.5W/cu. in. and achieves efficiency levels of between 92% (at 50% load) and 88% (at 20% load). The unit features active current sharing on its main output and incorporates safety features that include over-voltage, over-current and over temperature (with auto-recover) protection. Status information is provided via front panel LEDs, logic signals and an I²C bus interface.

The RoHS compliant D1U4CS-W-2200-12-HA4C has an operating temperature range of -0 to +50°C, mean time before failure (MTBF) of 400,000 hours and is compliant with CSA 60950-1-03/UL 60950-1 safety approvals.
