Motorola SCG Intros MMDFS3P303 FETKY

July 25, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Motorola Semiconductor Components Group (SCG, Phoenix, AZ) has introduced a new FETKY device that combines a p-channel MOSFET and a 3A Schottky rectifier in one space-saving SO-08 package. Designed using Motorola's high cell-density HDTMOS' process, the MMDFS3P303 FETKY incorporates a p-channel 30V, ultra-low Rds(on) MOSFET with a low forward drop, low leakage Schottky Barrier Rectifier in a single surface-mount package. Independent pinouts for the TMOS and Schottky die allow designers the flexibility to use a single component for both switching and synchronous rectification functions in a wide variety of applications critical to the portable market, according to SCG. The MMDFS3P303 is optimized for dc/dc conversion and its enhanced switching capability makes switching in power management applications possible, if the Schottky is placed in series with the MOSFET. The MMDFS3P303 FETKY is currently offered in a multi-chip surface mount SO-8. Sample and production quantities are currently available and pricing for the MMDFS3P303 FETKY starts at $0.86 each in quantities of 10,000.
