MMC Intros the MM5030 Series of 10A DC/DC Converters

January 24, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Microelectronic Modules Corp. (MMC, New Berlin, WI) offers the MM5030 Series of 10A non-isolated, board level dc/dc converters in an industry-standard 6A SIP. Boasting typical efficiencies of 90 percent, the modules step a 5V +/-0.5V input down to lower voltages required by core logic, ASICs, microcontrollers and microprocessors. The modules incorporate proprietary V2 architecture claimed to provide ultra-fast transient response, improved line and load regulation and very high efficiency. The MM5030 Series operate on 4.5V to 5.5V input voltage and provide outputs of 2.5V or 3.3V. Custom output voltages from 1.3V to 3.5V in 10mV steps are also available. Measuring 2.25" wide x 0.55" high, the modules achieve a power density of 83W per cubic inch. Standard features include lossless over-current short-circuit protection, thermal overload protection, remote sense, and remote on/off. Parallel operation and n+1 redundancy are available as options. The modules are priced at $24.60 each in quantities of 1,000.
