Microsemi Securing the IoT at Electronica

Microsemi Corporation will participate in Electronica 2014's Embedded Forum with a presentation titled, "Security for the Internet of Things (IoT): Challenges and Solutions" that outlines using advanced security features of its SmartFusion2® SoC FPGAs and IGLOO2® FPGAs. Microsemi will also participate as a panel member at Electronica's Security Forum.

The in-depth session at the Embedded Forum will be presented by Tim Morin, director of product marketing, SoC Product Group, at Microsemi, where he will provide key information about: Securing the IoT; Symmetric vs. Asymmetric Keys; Symmetric Key Exchange; Asymmetric Key Exchange; Public Key Infrastructure; and IoT Authentication Demonstration in Hall A4, booth 207. As a panel member at the Security Forum Roundtable, Morin will join industry security experts to discuss topics addressing security solutions for semiconductor and embedded applications.

In addition to the sessions at the Embedded Forum and Security Forum, Microsemi will also be demonstrating the following at Electronica in Hall 4, booth 207: IoT authentication—machine to machine (M2M) using the advanced security features of SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs and IGLOO2 FPGAs (live demo); Chip scale atomic clock (CSAC) and miniature atomic clock (MAC) (live demo); Advanced IC for motor control (live demo); Security—Physically unclonable function (PUF) (live demo); Secure Boot (live demo); Timberwolf audio processing platform and AcuEdge audio processing solutions; and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and midspan solutions.

Security is constantly in the public eye, yet most of the FPGAs being used to develop mainstream applications in the IoT do not necessarily offer the level of security needed to protect data and valuable application IP. Advanced security features of Microsemi’s SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs and IGLOO2 FPGAs provide that added layer of protection crucial for many of the new mainstream solutions being developed for IoT applications such as smart grids; M2M communication in manufacturing and power, oil and gas utilities, implantable devices, vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure applications; enterprise core routers and switches, and much more.

Microsemi’s focus on IoT security is intended to appeal to electronic developers, software engineers, researchers, development executives, production representatives and others interested in the latest technologies related to the electronics industry will be in attendance at the conference. The Security Forum roundtable discussion will take place Wednesday, Nov. 12, with Session 1 at 10:30 a.m. CET and Session 2 at 1 p.m. CET. The “Security for the Internet of Things (IoT)” presentation at the Embedded Forum will take place Friday, Nov. 14 from 2:30-3 p.m. CET in Hall A6.
