July 14, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Micrel Semiconductor Inc. (San Jose, CA) announced its new MIC5239 micropower, low-dropout (LDO) regulator, which provides keep-alive voltage for power-sensitive applications ranging from notebook PCs to automotive electronics.

The MIC5239 features a low 23µA quiescent current; a 500mA output-current capability; a high +1.0 percent initial accuracy; fixed output voltages of 5.0V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V and an adjustable

output-low indicator; a wide input-voltage range of 2.3V to 30V; a temperature range of -40 to +125 degrees C; and is fully protected with current limit and thermal shutdown.

The MIC5239 is available in thermally enhanced, power SO-8, power MSOP-8 and SOT-223 packages. Pricing starts at $1.64 for 1,000-piece quantities. Samples are available now, and production quantities are stock to eight weeks ARO.
