MGE Intros PMM Plus & PMM Ultra Digital Static Transfer Switch PMMs

June 27, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

MGE UPS Systems (Costa Mesa, CA) introduced its new Digital Static Transfer Switch Power Management Modules - PMM Plus and PMM Ultra. Using dual-input power distribution with automatic source selection, the PMM Plus and PMM Ultra feature full power conditioning and distribution for sensitive equipment. These modules support 30 to 300kVA loads and come with up to six panel boards supporting 252 poles. According to MGE, the PMM Plus and PMM Ultra combine isolation, distribution and monitoring functions into a single-cabinet total solution with 98 percent full-load efficiency rating. Output circuit breakers can be used for ON/OFF control, as well as overload protection for individual protection for each individual load. They can also be used as subfeeds for breaker panels further downstream. LCD and LED displays signal metering and diagnostic functions, including an event log with 1.5s resolution and quick-reference mimic screen. Parameters include: voltage, phase angles, kVA, kW, power factor, information archiving and more. All these parameters are remote accessible with RS232 and optional RS485 interfaces. The PMM Plus and PMM Ultra are UL1950 and CSA listed, and conform to FCC Part 15, Subpart J, class A and meet IEEE 587-1980/ANSI C62.41. These new systems are list priced starting at $60,000 each, depending on options.
