Metering Technology and NexusData Announce Agreement

February 15, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Metering Technology Corp. (MTC, San Diego, CA) and NexusData (Grapevine, TX) have announced an agreement to integrate NexusData's electric meter AMR transmitter modules with MTC's solid state electric meters. When integrated with NexusData's FixNet AMR System, the transmitter will read the consumption information from the MTC meter, transmit the information to a receiver site located up to 5 miles away and send the information back to a data management system. This will allow the utility to capture real-time consumption data from their customers, which can be used in a variety of business applications to support the utility's needs.

The initial product marketed by NexusData will be an MTC advanced residential communicating electric meter, with wireless network deployment options ranging from small service areas to system wide deployments. MTC and NexusData plan to develop future products to meet the utility industry's increasing requirements for remote meter data management and power measurement.

“Converging both companies' strengths gives MTC leverage to focus on developing the most functional, state-of-the-art meter for the utility industry," stated Peter Larsson, president and CEO of MTC.
