Mean Well Announces New 160W AC-DC Battery Charger

After launching GC220 (218W) series, MEAN WELL further expanded their ac-dc battery charger line and introduced the GC160 series ~ 160W green charger with low power consumption and high efficiency. Possessing very low "no load power consumption" (<1W) and up to 94% of high efficiency, the whole series are real energy-saving at both standby mode and active mode, which the company says could be rated as one of the most "Green" battery chargers in the market.

Featuring 2-stage fast charging characteristics, the GC160 series can quickly and efficiently feed your hungry batteries. They are suitable for all kinds of batteries, such as lead-acid battery, Lithium-Mn battery(LiMnO2), Lithium-Fe battery(LiFePO4), and sealed lead-acid gel battery…etc.

The GC160 series possess 2-stage charging curve (constant current and constant voltage) and can monitor the battery capacity by detecting the battery voltage. The device can quickly charge the battery at constant current mode in a low battery capacity status. And then, when the battery bank become full, the charger can automatically turn into constant voltage mode with slight charging current to avoid lifetime reduction caused by over-charging. Using the standard IEC320-C14 inlet as the input connector, GC160 series equip with earth ground pin and enclosed by UL 94V-0 rated plastic case. These Class I units can effectively prevent users from electrical shock and are especially suitable for charging electric scooter, electric bike, and electric wheelchair.

Featuring 85~264Vac full range input and built-in active PFC function, GC160 series can comply with the harmonic requirement per EN61000-3-2. Other standard function / feature includes 2 color LED indicator for charging status, short circuit, over-voltage, and over temperature protections. Furthermore, these chargers acquired global safety/EMC certificates per UL, TUV, CB, FCC and CE which greatly guarantee your safety for all different charging applications such as household appliance, security system, leisure vehicle and office/commercial equipment…etc.
