September 05, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Maxon Precision Motors Inc. (Burlingame, CA) introduced its new EC Series of brushless "pancake" motors, which are electronically commutated, enabling extremely long motor life since there are no mechanical brushes to wear out. Ball bearings also add to the longevity of the motor. Motors are offered with Hall-effect sensors as an option. The motors are suitable for color wheels, pick-and-place machines, robotics, and pumps.
