May 01, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Maxon Motor (UK) launched their biggest product in the Maxon Motor RE Series, the 250W RE 75. Developed for industrial use, including machine tools and production machinery, the unit utilizes neodymium magnets. The RE 75 is splash-proof and suitable for use in damp, or even wet, working environments. This mechanically commutated motor features four-pole operation. A version of the RE 75 is also available with a brush monitoring system.

Important features of the RE 75 include a maximum efficiency of 91.3 percent, zero cogging, a time constant of 4ms and high overload capacity. There are 11 different windings that can be adapted to any particular application. The motor may also be fitted with brakes, planetary gearhead and encoders. The planetary gearhead, GP081, is available in six180Nm. The dynamic braking moment is 1.25Nm. The encoder provides 1,000 pulses-per-turn at TTL levels

on two 90 displaced channels, or one pulse per turn on the index channel. Encoder and brake connections use round screw-on type receptacles.
