Maxim Intros MAX-4366/4367/4368 Op Amps

February 14, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Maxim Integrated Products Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) introduced its new MAX-4366, MAX4367 and MAX-4368 audio operational amplifiers, which deliver up to 330mW into 32 ohms from a single 2.3V to 5.5V supply with 0.02 percent total harmonic distortion and noise. Suitable for cell phones, PDAs and other portable audio applications, the MAX-4366, MAX4367 and MAX-4368 come in packages as small as 1.5mm x 1.5mm, and consume as little as 2mA.

A bridge-tied load output stage is said to provide four times the power of a conventional single-ended amp, and eliminates the need for large-output coupling capacitors. The amps have a low-power shutdown mode, internal dc bias generation and thermal-overload protection.

The MAX4367 and MAX4368 have internally preset gains of 2V/V and 3V/V respectively. All three op amps are available in three-by-three UCSP or eight-pin SOT23, QFN and microMAX packages. They are priced from $0.55 in lots of 1,000 pieces.
