Maxim Integrated Products Debuts the MAX5021 and MAX5022

July 01, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Maxim Integrated Products (Sunnyvale, CA) announced its new SOT-23 off-line power-supply controllers, the MAX5021 and MAX5022. These new current-mode PWM controllers contain all the control circuitry required for the design of wide-input voltage range isolated power supplies. They are suitable for use in universal input (85Vac to 265Vac) off-line or telecom (-36Vdc to -72Vdc) power supplies.

The MAX5021/MAX5022 comes with an under-voltage lockout circuit with large hysteresis, as well as low startup and operating current. The 262kHz switching frequency is internally trimmed to +/-12-percent accuracy. The MAX5021, with a 50-percent maximum duty cycle and the MAX5022, with a 75-percent maximum duty cycle, are suitable for forward converters and flyback converters, respectively.

The MAX5021/MAX5022 are available in six-pin SOT-23, eight-pin uMAX and eight-pin DIP packages. They are rated for operating over the -40 to 85 degrees C temperature range.
