Lineage Power Corp. announced its newest member of the PicoTLynx™ dc-dc converter family, a 4A, wide-input-range model. The high-efficiency, non-isolated, point-of-load (POL) converter is designed to extend the operating input and output voltage ranges of the PicoTLynx product to accommodate industrial applications.
The input voltage range is extended to 8-16V in with a 10 second surge capability of up to 18V in. The output voltage range is also extended to 0.59-8V out. The 4A PicoTLynx provides a full 4A load at 8V out up to 85°C and natural convection conditions with no airflow. The company claims that this thermal and operating efficiency is unmatched in the industry. In addition, the POL converter is highly efficient resulting in 96.1% efficiency at 8V out. A ruggedized version of the product for performance at higher temperature and vibration is also available.
The PicoTLynx POL converter is well suited for distributed power systems and is part of the TLynx™ converter product line which offers a small form factor, higher current density, excellent thermal performance, and low ripple. In addition, the company says that the product family is very cost effective and delivers additional system-level, cost-reducing elements such as Lineage Power’s Tunable Loop™ feature.
The Tunable Loop feature delivers leading density at the lowest cost implementation, leveraging standards-based Distributed-Power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) footprints. Tunable Loop functionality allows design engineers to optimize the dynamic response of a POL power solution to match load requirements – reducing the quantity, type, and size of the capacitors required for any given application. The result is up to 70% capacitor space reduction at 50% lower cost.
PicoTLynx family of dc-dc converters are 3, 4 and 6A in a 12.2 x 12.2mm footprint, smaller than a dime. All models are packaged in a standard DOSA footprint.
