Ling Electronics (Anaheim, CA), a subsidiary of SatCon Technology Corp. (Cambridge, MA), recently introduced a new product line of standard power inverters that convert dc power to ac power for use in fuel cell, micro-turbine and photovoltaic power generation systems for residential, commercial and industrial applications. According to the company, the products are a combination of Ling's basic power amplifier modified with SatCon's power electronics and control technology. Since the acquisition of Ling Electronics Inc. in October of this year, intensified sales efforts, combined with competitive product costing achieved through cost reduction efforts since the acquisition, have resulted in $1.8 million of new orders for existing Ling products, said David Eisenhaure, SatCon's president and CEO. We are also investigating other ways to upgrade Ling's traditional product line of vibration test equipment with some of SatCon's new technology, which should result in an increased market share for these standard products.
