Lambda Launches New Series of Small, Lightweight Power Supplies

March 04, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda has introduced a series of single-output 5- to 15W ac-dc power supplies designed for direct mounting on a printed circuit board (PCB). Small and lightweight, the new KPS series supplies are suitable for use in a wide variety of applications, such as process control, test-and-measurement and portable equipment.

Units are available in three different power levels and in package sizes ranging from 1.38 x 2.17 x 0.79 inches (5W models) to 1.89 x 2.75 x 0.91 inches (15W models). They are also offered in all commonly used output voltages from 3.3 to 24V, with typical efficiency of 82% for the 24V units.

All configurations accept a broad range of input voltages – 90 to 264Vac, 47 to 440Hz or 110 to 370Vdc – and because the supplies are Class II devices, they require no ground connection. The units are rated for operation in a convection-cooled environment from 0 to 70°C, derating linearly to 25% load from 40 to 70°C.

Lambda’s KPS supplies meet EN61000-4-X immunity and Class B EMI standards. They are also safety-approved to UL60950-1, CSA60950-1 and EN60950-1 specifications; CE marked; and RoHS compliant.

The KPS series PCB-mount power supplies are available now, with prices starting at $11 each in OEM quantities.
