March 21, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (Melville, NY) announced that it has received the UL508 rating, required for industrial control applications, for its NES and DRP Series DIN rail-mountable power supplies, as well as for its JFS Series single output ac/dc power supplies. According to Lambda, the approval allows end systems containing the power supplies to be more easily certified. The NES and DRP Series power supplies deliver from 60 to 960W and provide input transient protection, as well as single and three-phase ac input. The low profile NES Series is designed specifically where space is tight and features power factor and harmonic correction to improve power quality, line regulation, noise immunity and hold-up times. The DRP Series modules are sized to minimize DIN rail space. The NES Series provides universal input (85-265Vac), while the DRP Series accepts 110/120 and three-phase ac input. Pricing ranges from $141 to $554 in quantities of 100, depending on the module. The JFS Series is comprised of 500W to 2000W DIN rail- and wall-mountable power supplies, with dimensions as compact as 11.06" x 4.87" x 2". Features include current sharing, remote on/off, ac fail and dc good signaling and a built-in wall-mountable design. The Series is available in five package sizes with a nominal voltage of 24V and a range of 20 to 29, or 48V with a range of 36 to 56. The 500W, 760W, 1000W and 1500W power supplies offer an input range of 85-265Vac, while the 2000W version has an input range of 170-265Vac. Pricing for the JFS Series averages $0.75 per Watt in OEM quantities.
