Lambda Electronics to Consolidate 4 Manufacturing Facilities

Lambda Electronics (Melville, NY) announced plans to consolidate four of its manufacturing facilities into one 260,000 sq. ft. facility in Tijuana, Mexico. Lambda also announced it is making a number of its most powerful power supplies available with a 24-hour turnaround time from distributors. Three plants in Mexico (Reynosa, Del Norte and Tijuana) and a plant in McAllen, Texas will be merged into the new site. The transfer of manufacturing activity will take place over the next seven months to minimize the effects on existing customers and to allow sufficient time to re-qualify products and processes, according to the firm."Price pressures across all electronic markets are intense," said Keith Hopwood, Director of Marketing and R&D. "The efficiencies we will experience with customer service, supply chain management and other activities under one roof will lower overhead costs, a benefit that will allow us to meet our customer cost goals."Lambda's UltraFlex 400W and 600W modular power supplies are now available through Pioneer, Gerber and Digi-Key with a 24-hour turnaround for prototypes and 7-10 days for production quantities. The series is available directly from Lambda or from other distributors with 72-hour prototype and 4-6 week production lead times.
