Lambda Electronics Extends the DT Series of Desktop Power Supplies

March 05, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (Melville, NY) recently announced that is has broadened its DT Series of rugged, low-profile, external desktop power supplies with the new 60W quad-output DT70PW401 model featuring outputs of +5V, +/-12V and 5Vsb.

According to Lambda, the DT Series is designed for the manufacturers of computer peripherals, portable test equipment and other devices that use an external power supply. The series includes 33 standard models with single, dual, triple and quad outputs delivering output voltages of 5V to 24V, and power levels from 12.5W to 100W. The DT Series provides remote shutdown input which Lambda claims is demanded by most microprocessor-based equipment to allow for energy savings. The power supply also has a continuous 60W rating with a 70W peak capability.

Other features of the new model include a 5V standby output and a remote on/off signal that turns off the +5V and +/-12V outputs. This feature, which enables power savings in the equipment, was previously only included in PC-style power supplies. The remote on/off signal can also be used to shutdown the high-current outputs without requiring a disconnect of the adapter power supply. All models are designed to be protected against accidental short circuits, and are in compliance with EN61000-4 specifications for lightning, surge and ESD protection. The series has also earned a Class B Conducted EMI rating and has safety approvals, including UL 1950, EN60950 and CE marking.

In quantities of 100, pricing for the DT70PW401 is $60 each. Delivery time is eight weeks.
