JST Corp. (Waukegan, IL) introduced its new SHL Series of connectors, which have an extra-low profile of 1.4mm (0.055in) for offset mounting, and 1.8mm (0.071in) for normal PCB mounting. The new 1.0mm (0.039in) pitch, side-entry, SMT connectors are suitable for high-density applications such as notebook PCs, LCD monitors, PDAs and cellular phones.
The unique contact, featuring spring action, is easily inserted into the housing with low insertion force, and is designed to prevent deformation during the crimping operation. The SHL disconnectable, crimp-style connector is available in 14, 16 and 20 circuits rated at 1.0A ac/dc, 50V ac/dc. The temperature range is from -25 to +85 degrees C, including temperature rise in applying electrical current. Headers are provided on embossed tape for automatic insertion equipment.
