Isolated DC-DCs for PoE Powered Devices and Power Sourcing

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. expanded its lineup of isolated dc-dc converters for Power over Ethernet (PoE). The additions to the lineup consist of the following two isolation type dc-dc converter products that the company designed for for Powered Devices (PD) and also the following isolation-type dc-dc converter product intended for Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE). The new dc-dc converters for PoE include MYBSP0055AABFT, a 5Vo/5.1A product, for PD; MYBSP0122BABFT, a 12Vo/2.1A product, for PD; and MYBSS054R6EBF, a 54Vo/0.6A, boost-up, for PSE. These products are suitable for biometric authentication devices which are primarily required to occupy minimal space and possess low noise characteristics. Other typical applications for the dc-dc converters include an IoT Gateway which is necessary for edge computing and camera modules. The converters also can help miniaturize conventional wireless access points, IP telephones, and routers.

MYBSP0055AABFT is an isolated dc-dc converter for PoE with PD controller for at, Adapter-Oring and Type-2-indicator functionality. It has got 5V/5.1A (25.5W) output, and a 37V to 57V input voltage range.

MYBSP0122BABFT is isolated dc-dc converter for PoE with PD controller for at, Adapter-Oring function and Type-2-indicator function. It has got 12V/2.125A (25.5W) output, 37V to 57V input voltage range.

MYBSP0122BABFT/MYBSP0055AABFT

The MYBSP0122BABFT and the MYBSP0055AABFT have typical efficiency of 92.5% (12Vout), and full 2250Vdc isolation.

The MYBSP0122BABFT and the MYBSP0055AABFT are suitable for IEEE 802.3 at compliant devices. They have self-protection features including input under-voltage lockout and output current limit. The outputs current limit is using the hiccup auto-restart technique. And the modules have detection and classification for compliant IEEE802.3at. The MYBSP0122BABFT and MYBSP0055AABFT have three additional pins for Type2 PSE Indicator and Adapter ORing compared to MYBSP0122BABF/MYBSP0055AABF.

MYBSS054R6EBF is a boost-up, isolated dc-dc converter for PSE of POE, and it is suitable for 12V input or 24V input such as an ac-dc adapter. It features a 54V/0.6A output and a 10.8V to 27V input voltage range.

The MYBSS054R6EBF has an input range of 10.8-27Vdc with a typical efficiency of 90%, and full 2250Vdc isolation.

The MYBSS054R6EBF is suitable for PoE PSE Devices. The module has self-protection features including input under-voltage

lockout and output current limit. The output's current limit is using the hiccup auto-restart technique.

All of these new dc-dc converter products are already being mass produced, and samples are available upon request.
