IRC Inc.'s (Corpus Christi, TX) Advanced Film Division introduced a surface-mount chip version of its platinum film resistive temperature sensors for automotive, industrial and instrumentation applications. Designated the PTS1206 Series, the devices offer the precision and stability of platinum temperature sensing elements in a standard 1206 surface-mount chip.
The PTS Series feature resistance values of 100 and 1,000 with tolerances as low as ±0.5 percent, and they are rated for operation from -50 to +125 degrees C. The platinum film-sensing element exhibits a long-term stability of less than 0.1 percent; and response times of 0.2 seconds in liquid and 2.2 seconds in still air.
Pricing for the PTS Series is approximately $0.87 each in quantities of 10,000, with lead times of approximately stock to six weeks.
