IRC Offers New Jumper Resistor

November 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

IRC Inc.'s (Corpus Christi, TX) Advanced Film Division recently developed a jumper with extremely low resistance, inductance ratings less than 0.2nH, and which are suitable for high-current applications up to 35A. Constructed of copper on alumina, the IRC jumper resistor is available in 1206, 2010 and 2512 chip sizes and is compatible with high-speed surface-mount placement equipment. The ultra-low-resistance jumper resistor is ideal for use in power supply circuits and dc/dc converters.

“As computers and other microprocessors become more compact and operate using higher currents, the need for a surface-mount jumper resistor that offers ultra-low resistance and high-current ratings is crucial,” explained Steve Wade, sales and marketing director for IRC's Advanced Film Division. “While typical jumper resistors handle only 5A to 10A, our resistors are capable of handling currents up to 35A with minimal heating.”

Typical pricing for these jumper resistors is $0.10 in quantities of 100,000, with lead times from stock to five weeks.
