IRC Develops COTS Family of Thin Film Resistors

October 23, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

IRC Inc. (Corpus Christi, TX) introduced the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) family of its TaNFilm® and TaNSil® thin film resistors. Using the same manufacturing equipment and materials as the military qualified thin film resistors, the COTS-level products ensure long life stability in military and aerospace applications.

The IRC family of COTS-level products includes precision thin film chip resistors (PFC), the SIP network, the high-reliability DIP network, the LR Series, the Flat Pack Series Resistor Network, the Small Outline Network (SON), the TaNSil SOIC Series, and the TaNSil QSOP Series.

The PFCs, available in 0603, 0805, 1206 and 1505 chip sizes, feature leach-resistant nickel barrier terminations, absolute TCRs to ±10ppm/°C, and tolerances to ±0.02%. The SIP networks are available with absolute TCRs to 10ppm/°C and tolerances to 0.01%. The high-reliability DIP network offers TCR tracking to ±2ppm/°C and ratios available to ±0.01%.

The LR Series feature a resistance range from 0.002 Ohms to 1.0 kiloohms, with high power dissipation at 70°C and tolerances to ±1%. The Flat Pack Series Resistor Network offers ultra precision with absolute tolerance to ±0.02% and rations to ±0.01%. The SON is suitable for reflow soldering techniques with absolute TCR to ±10ppm/°C and tracking ±5ppm/°C standard with ratios available to ±0.01%. The TaNSil SOIC Series offers TCRs available to ±25ppm/°C and TCR tracking to ±5ppm/°C in 8-pin, 14-pin and 16-pin sizes. The TaNSil QSOP Series is available in 16-pin, 20-pin and 24-pin sizes with absolute TCR available to ±25ppm/°C and ratio tolerance to 0.05%.
