IR Offers Simulation Software for iMOTION Power Modules

May 10, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

International Rectifier Corp. (IR, El Segundo, CA) introduced a new web-based simulation tool for three-phase, variable-speed, motor drive inverter circuits. The new online tool simplifies recursive calculations and expands the design support for IR’s iMOTION™ integrated design platform, a comprehensive approach to electronic motion control for appliances and industrial equipment.

The simulation software is designed to calculate power losses and current ratings as a function of motor speed and modulation/switching frequency for all IR IRAM Series advanced integrated power modules, and can be used to evaluate and compare the analog power stages in various operational conditions. In addition, a thermal analysis function verifies safe temperature operation area and heatsink requirements.

The new web-based tool is available free from the IR website at http://www.irf.com/design-center/ipm/.
