International Rectifier (IR, El Segundo, CA) announced it has developed new technologies for IGBTs and complementary FRDs claimed to offer the most efficient performance available for industrial offline applications, such as motor drives and power conversion applications. IR's first devices to be released in the discrete family are the IRGP25A120KD and the IRGP25A120UD Co-Pack devices, which combine the IGBT and diode in a TO-247 package with ratings of 1200V, 25A (IC at 90 degrees C). The K version is optimized for motor drive applications with a typical Vce of 2.7V at rated current, and the U version is optimized for power conversion with a typical Vce of 3.9V at rated current. The first devices to be released in the family of die products are the 25, 50, 75, 100A die pairs, which include both an IGBT and similarly rated FRD. Pricing for the new devices ranges from $4.00 to $17.50 in production volumes.
