IPS Announces IA Series of DC/DC Converters

January 31, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

International Power Sources Inc. (IPS, Holliston, MA) announced the new IA Series, a line of miniature board-mount dc/dc converters. The new devices are suitable for application in portable instruments, mobile equipment and telecom systems in electrically noisy environments where high isolation is required. Input-to-output isolation is 1,000Vdc.

The new IA Series converters supply 1W in industry-standard 7-pin SIP and 14-pin DIP packages, measuring 0.78" x 0.24" x 0.40" for the SIP and 0.40" x 0.80" x 0.31" for the DIP. MTBF is as high as 1.6Mhrs. IPS claims that surface-mount technology and toroidal magnetics greatly reduce radiated EMI.

The IA Series includes 15 models with dual-output voltages of ±3.3, ±5, ±12 and ±15Vdc with five-percent accuracy. Input voltages are 5, 12, 24 or 48V, with ±10-percent accuracy. Operating temperature range is -25 to 85 degrees C without derating. No external components are required for full operation.

OEM quantity pricing for the IA Series is less than $6 each. Prototype quantities are available from stock.
