Intersil Intros ISL6571 Driver/MOSFET IC

September 17, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced the new Endura™ ISL6571 SynchroFET™ IC, a driver combined with two MOSFETs in a power-efficient, quad flat-pack, no-lead (QFN) package. The ISL6571 power control and stage chipset enables compact and efficient low-voltage dc/dc buck converters powering CPUs and power-hungry ASICs.

The ISL6571 features a complementary MOSFET driver, synchronous half-bridge switch and Schottky diode, which are integrated into a small and thermally efficient, 68-lead, 10mm x 10mm QFN package, eliminating the problems associated with poor power stage component layout and selection of sub-optimal MOSFETs. The high packaging density of the ISL6571 driver/MOSFET combination reduces the layout parasitics, and enables the converter to operate at frequencies up to 1MHz/phase, reducing the overall printed circuit board area.

The ISL6571 is currently available. The ISL6571CR in the 68-pad, QFN package is priced at $2 each in quantities of 4,999 to 9,999 units. Other quantity pricing is available upon request. The ISL6571CR-T is available on tape and reel.
