Intersil Debuts ISL43240 MightyMUX Analog Switch

May 06, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corp. (Milpitas, CA) announced a new addition to its growing MightyMUX™ high-performance analog switch line, the ISL43240 IC, which contains four single-pole, double-throw analog switches that provide a best-in-class R(ON) of less than 20 Ohms, at ±5V and 25°C, and a best-in-class R(ON) flatness of less than 4 Ohms guaranteed across input voltage and industrial temperature. Targeted applications include high-precision equipment used for medical, communications and testing.

The ISL43240 has the flexibility to operate from a +2V to +12V single supply or from a ±2V to ±6V dual supply. The tiny, near-chip-scale, 20-pad, 4mm x 4mm, quad flat no-lead (QFN) package conserves board space, and a 20-lead SSOP package option is also available. A low off-leakage current of less than 100pA lengthens hold times in sample-and-hold-circuits and fast switching speeds reduce propagation delays in timing-sensitive applications. The switches offer a minimal charge injection of less than 5pC to maximize signal integrity. All ICs are fully specified at ±5V, 12V, 5V and 3.3V to save characterization time.

The ISL43240 is available now. Pricing for quantities of 100 to 999 units is $1.48 each for the ISL43240IR QFN and $1.41 each for the ISL43240IA SSOP. Both packages are rated for a temperature range of –40°C to +85°C and are available on tape and reel.
