International Resistive Unveils New LOB Series of Low-Ohm Resistors

October 15, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

International Resistive Co. Inc. (Boone, NC), a subsidiary of the TT Group PLC, introduced the new LOB Series of low-ohm resistors, which provide current sensing down to 0.005ohms. Intended to provide current designers with a device suited for a wide range of applications, IRC claims that the molded axial-leaded resistors exhibit almost no inductance in critical current-sensing circuits.

The LOB Series is offered in three power ratings of 1W, 3W and 5W, with resistance values from 0.005ohms to 0.01ohms, tolerances of between minus one percent and one percent, and inductance measures less than 0.02nH at 500kHz. The resistors are rated for operation from -65 degrees to 150 degrees C.

"With the LOB Series, IRC offers design engineers another option for precision current-sensing resistors," said Shelton Wilson, the international sales manager of IRC's wire and film technologies division. "The resistors can be used in many applications, including switch-mode and linear power supplies, automotive current-sensing circuits, and voltage regulators."

Typical pricing for the LOB Series resistors starts at $0.15 for the 1W device.
