International Power Sources Debuts HUL200 Series of AC/DC Power Supplies

August 16, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

International Power Sources Inc. (Holliston, MA) announced its new HUL200 Series of low-cost, low-profile, high power density ac/dc power supplies, which meet EN61000-3-2. Using a special harmonic correction circuit, these supplies are able to meet the new European requirements with minimal costs. Applications for these products include rack-mounted network, telecom and industrial systems.

The converters supply 200W in an industry-standard U-bracket package that measures 3.8in x 6.8in x 1.5in. With a less than 1U profile, this supply has a power density of 5.16W per cubic inch.

The HUL200 Series features 14 models with single-, dual-, triple- or quad-output voltages. Autoranging allows input voltages of 90Vac to 132Vac and 170Vac to 264Vac without the need to configure the supply with jumpers, switches or straps. Output-voltage selections include 3.3Vdc, 5Vdc, 12Vdc, 15Vdc, 24Vdc and 48Vdc. Quad-output standard configurations include ±5V/±12V, ±5V/±24V/±12V and ±5V/±15V. Custom configurations are also available. A main output-voltage trim range of 10 percent allows output flexibility.

Input-to-output isolation is greater than 3,000Vac for safety-agency requirements. The supplies come with approvals from UL, cUL and TUV. Pricing for the HUL200 Series ranges from $70 (single outputs) to the low $80's (quad outputs). Prototype quantities are available from stock; production quantity lead time is 8 to 10 weeks ARO.
