International Power Sources Announces New HUP80 Series of AC/DC Power Supplies

February 05, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

International Power Sources Inc. (IPS, Holliston, MA) recently announced their new line of enclosed ac/dc power supplies, the HUP80 Series, which have a profile of 1.75". The new converters may be mounted on a 1U rack shelf and can supply up to 80W. They come in a non-vented case that measures 3.09" x 6.61" x 1.75". Included is a strain-relieved, 4-foot output cable with standard DIN connectors. The operating range spans from 0 degrees C to 70 degrees C. Applications for these products include network, office telecom or portable systems.

The series has 24 models with single-, dual- and triple-output voltages. Output voltage selections include 3.3Vdc, 5Vdc, 7Vdc, 10Vdc, 12Vdc, 15Vdc, 18Vdc, 24Vdc, 30Vdc, 36Vdc and 48Vdc. Duals offer 3.3Vdc with 5V or 12V and 5Vdc with 12V, 15V, 24V or –24V. Triple outputs have 3.3Vdc with ±12V or +12V and –5V, and 5Vdc with 12V and –5V, ±12V, ±15V, ±24V and +24V and –12V. Custom settings are also available. Isolated outputs enable the user to swap output voltage polarity for extended flexibility. Universal Input allows input voltages of 90Vac to 264Vac.

IPS reports that the output voltage accuracy for the HUP80 Series is five percent or better at full line, load and temperature range. Single outputs have two to five percent tolerance. Fully loaded complete burn-in is intended to enhance reliability. The series has protection schemes for over-voltage, short-circuit and input surge. Input to output isolation is 3,000Vac for safety agency requirements, and the series bears approvals from UL, cUL and TÜV, and EMI limits per FCC and CISPR.

OEM quantity pricing for the HUP80 Series starts at less than $30. Prototype quantities are available from stock and standard lead time for production quantities is 12 to 14 weeks ARO.
