Innoveta Technologies Expands Veta DC/DC Converters

April 16, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Innoveta Technologies Inc. (Plano, TX) has expanded its Veta half-brick dc/dc converter product line to include a full range of output voltages, from 1.8V to 28V. With output currents as high as 60A and output power reaching 300W, Veta provides a complete set of building blocks for high-performance 48V systems.

All converters accept a wide-range 36V to 75V input source. The Veta iHA/iHD Series provides 60A at 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V; 40A at 5V; and 300W at 12V, 24V and 28V. The 2.28in x 2.4in x 0.5in (58mm x 61mm x 12.7mm) modules meet industry-standard dimensions and pin-out for a half-brick.

The new Veta products above 2.5V reach at least 91 percent efficiency. At 1.8V output, the products reach 88.5 percent efficiency, with the 2.5V and 1.8V models setting industry benchmarks. The 300W rating at 12V, 24V and 28V output establishes a power density of 110W/cu-in, allowing the product to replace full-brick converters in many applications. Forced current sharing allows for redundancy or increased power where required.

The iHA Series includes on/off control, remote sense and a wide-range output trim, while the iHD adds true forced-current sharing for parallel operation, and synchronization. Veta employs auto-recovery circuitry to fully protect against input over-voltage and under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and latching protection for output over-voltage. Auto-recovery output over-voltage protection is optional. Veta is approved to EN60950 for basic insulation.
