INGenius Unveils Alkaline Battery Recycler

March 28, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

INGenius ATG (Atlanta) introduced the Battery Recycler, an industrial/commercial battery recharger for alkaline batteries. The Battery Recycler is claimed to safely recharge standard alkaline batteries (sizes AAA, AA, C, D and 9V) numerous times. According to INGenius, the Battery Recycler's patented technology works by reducing the formation of dendrites, which clog alkaline batteries and render them unrechargeable. By keeping the channels clear, the batteries can be recharged many times. The firm stated that the system's performance has been verified by over 1 million cell hours of battery tests and by three independent testing labs. The tests are claimed to show that the recharging process can restore close to, and sometimes more than, 100 percent power to a battery on the first few recharges. INGenius states that the Battery Recycling system costs about 4 cents per recharged battery to own and operate. The company is in the process of licensing battery recycling centers across the country where consumers and businesses can exchange their discharged alkaline batteries for tested recharged ones at discounted prices.
