IMS Presents New DeviceNet MicroLYNX

August 26, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Intelligent Motion Systems Inc. (IMS, Marlborough, CT) announced its new DeviceNet, an industry-standard, machine control interface, as an option for its compact MicroLYNX controller. The design of the DeviceNet MicroLYNX makes it well-suited for industrial electrical environments and for applications such as packaging, medical, semiconductor, labeling, inspection, engraving and material handling.

The MicroLYNX machine control system is an easy-to-install, panel-mounted assembly with a bipolar stepper motor microstepping drive. The MicroLYNX is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, measuring 2.4in x 3.5in x 2.9in (60.96mm x 88.9mm x 73.66mm). The MicroLYNX is available with two different drive output selections of 12Vdc to 48Vdc, 3Arms - 4A peak, or 24Vdc to 75Vdc, 5Arms - 7A peak.

The DeviceNet version of the MicroLYNX is specifically designed to conform with ODVA Volume II, Release 2.0, Errata 3 as a position controller (device type 16). Communicating with the DeviceNet MicroLYNX is accomplished through either I/O or explicit messaging; and upgrading the product in the field is accomplished easily with an optional DeviceNet programmer cable.

Pricing for the DeviceNet MicroLYNX is $373.70 for 100-piece quantities.
