IMS Announces New MDrive Linear Actuator

May 08, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Intelligent Motion Systems Inc. (IMS, Marlborough, CT) expanded its product line with an optional, long-life, Acme-screw, linear actuator version available in many MDrive sizes, including NEMA 14, 17, 23 and 34. The available linear actuator versions are suitable for a large range of stepping motor applications, and include a non-captive shaft, a captive shaft and an external linear. The standard screw length for the non-captive MDrive linear actuators is 6in (152.4mm) plus mounting-end thread, with custom lengths from 2in to 24in. Various screws are available for each size MDrive and provide a wide range of travel/full step options.

The maximum thrust for the linear actuators include the MDrive14 at 25lbs/11kg, the MDrive17 at 50lbs/23kg, the MDrive23 at 200lbs/91kg and the MDrive34 at 500lbs/227kg.

In addition to linear actuators, MDrives are available with a number of other options, including an encoder, a planetary gearbox, and a rear knob for hand operation of the motor. MDrive micro-stepping, speed control and motion control versions are also available.
