August 10, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

The IMP37 low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator from IMP Inc. (San Jose, CA) is the company's newest addition to its power mManagement IC product portfolio. The new device is claimed to be optimized for low voltage applications. With an 800mA load, the IMP37's maximum dropout voltage is 0.95V. The device's maximum quiescent operating current is 75uA. The IMP37 is available with fixed output voltage options of 2.5V, 3.0V and 3.3V. The regulator outputs are trimmed to 1 percent accuracy. Input voltage range extends to 5.5V. Short circuit and thermal protection is on chip.Available in SOT-223 and TO-263 packages, the IMP37 is priced at $0.50 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
