Helix Semiconductors Selects EUROCOMP as European Distributor

May 04, 2019 by Scott McMahan

Helix Semiconductors of Irvine, California has added EUROCOMP Elektronik GmbH as its central European manufacturer's representative. As a manufacturers representative, EUROCOMP will distribute Helix Semiconductors' innovative power conversion ICs to customers throughout Europe.

The move of the fabless, developer of efficient digital power solutions takes notice of the EU establishing the world's most ambitious and comprehensive set of energy efficiency policies and regulations.

Measured results for these Helix Semiconductor ICs and product demonstrations can be seen next week at PCIM Europe, held from May 7-9 in Nuremberg, Germany.

Helix Semiconductor points out that in recent years, the EU has adopted measures to improve energy efficiency including the Ecodesign Directive, in which its agencies are currently establishing efficiency criteria for power supplies. These criteria are expected to become decidedly more stringent concerning standby or vampire loads (electronic products that are plugged in but are not in use or are using very low power).

The company asserts that power supplies built using conventional methods will fall short of these criteria.

Helix Semiconductors says its patented MuxCapacitor® (MuxCap™) and Capacitive Isolation (CapIso™) are the enabling technologies behind smaller, cooler, and more efficient products. The company claims that its MuxCapacitor converts mains power worldwide to virtually any lower voltage with more than 95% efficiency--and also enables true zero power.

The company implied that its technology will help meet the EU's more stringent efficiency criteria for power supplies.

"The need for better energy efficiency is a global issue that hits home all over the world," noted Harold A. Blomquist, president and CEO of Helix Semiconductors. "The central European market is large and diverse, and our new, strategic partnership with EUROCOMP increases our reach in the region. The EU has made clear its long-term commitment to a more energy efficient future, and our own commitment to finding a better way of powering the world led us to create the products that are fundamentally changing the power conversation."

Helix Semiconductors' says its lineup of the highest power density, cost-effective architectures for ac-dc and dc-dc (isolated and non-isolated) power supplies is now available through EUROCOMP Elektronik GmbH. Centrally located in Bad Nauheim near the Frankfurt am Main Airport, EUROCOMP has been providing active and passive components for the power conversion industry for more than 30 years.

The company invites PCIM attendees to visit booth #355 in Hall 6 to find out more about the company's products and technology.
