Haydon Switch and Instrument Introduces New Splash-Proof Linear Actuator

March 29, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Haydon Switch and Instrument Inc. (Waterbury, CT) has introduced a splash proof linear actuator designed for use in harsh environments where it could be exposed to splashing liquids, precipitation, salt spray, harsh chemicals, and extreme dust or other particulate debris.

The company's field-proven 1" diameter linear actuator is enclosed inside a 1.38" diameter aluminum housing. A rubber bellows seals the shaft and a compression coupling seals the lead wire. The motor is constructed with ball bearings and a stainless-steel leadscrew for reliable, long-life operation.

Capable of generating 10 pounds of force, the actuator is available with linear step increments of 0.0005", 0.001", 0.002" and 0.004". Bipolar or unipolar coils in 5V or 12V can be specified.
