April 28, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Generation Electronics Inc. (Lowell, MA) announced its new custom-manufactured, lithium-ion battery packs that provide high energy density and include charging circuits and other electronics. Suitable for use in a variety of portable devices, they operate from -20 to +70 degrees C.

The new battery packs incorporate on-board circuitry to gauge charge, temperature and remaining run time, and can be made in cylindrical, prismatic and coin cell configurations with capacities ranging from 500mA to 20A. The battery packs combine high power and high energy density in a lightweight package that can be supplied with flying leads; pressure contacts; and solder, surface-mount and quick-connect connectors.

The new Generation lithium-ion battery packs are priced according to configuration and quantity, with 5,000 minimum units per year typical.
