General Semiconductor Introduces the GS1117 Family of LDO Regulators

June 27, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

General Semiconductor Inc. (Melville, NY) has introduced its first family of fixed and adjustable LDO voltage regulators, the GS1117 family. The new standard positive-voltage regulator is offered with an adjustable voltage option as well as in fixed voltages of 2.85V, 3.3V and 5V. The family is intended for use in low-voltage microprocessor peripheral applications as well as post-regulation in switching power and battery chargers. The 2.85V version is particularly suited for use in active terminators for SCSI bus.

The GS1117 family features a dropout voltage of 1.2V at 800mA output current. It features line regulation of 0.015 percent and load regulation typically at 0.1 percent. The family features fast transient response and internal thermal limiting. Dropout is guaranteed at a maximum of 1.4V at maximum output current.

The GS117 family is available in four industry-standard packages, including the SOT-223, TO-252, TO-220 and TO-263.
