General Semiconductor Introduces MBR10H100 100V Schottky

December 03, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

General Semiconductor Inc. (Melville, NY) has expanded its Schottky rectifier product line. The company now offers Schottky products with reverse voltages up to 100V. These high-voltage Schottky rectifiers are initially offered with forward current ratings of 2A, 10A and 20A. The 20A version is a dual-diode common-cathode device. Other current ratings will be introduced shortly. These products are being offered in axial, surface-mount and power packages, including the new isolated TO-220.

General Semiconductor claims that the majority carrier conduction of the new Schottky rectifiers results in faster switching speeds, lower stored charge and lower forward voltage drops than in standard rectifiers. These attributes reduce power losses and improve efficiency. General Semiconductor's new proprietary Schottky barrier process is designed to reduce leakage current and improves high temperature performance allowing operation up to junction temperatures of 175 degrees C.

All General Semiconductor Schottky rectifiers have an ion-implanted guardring for improved reverse energy handling capability. Typical applications include high-frequency switch-mode power supplies, dc/dc converters, freewheeling diodes and reverse battery protection. Pricing for the new MBR10H100 is $1.04 in 25,000-piece quantities.
