GE Fanuc Adds to Fanuc Series of AC Servo Motors

March 01, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

GE Fanuc (Luxembourg) has added what it claims to be the largest synchronous servo motor with rare-earth magnets to its GE Fanuc Series of ac servo motors. With a rated output of 100kW and a maximum output of 200kW, the newly-announced GE Fanuc 1000 ac servo motor is claimed to be the largest such unit available for general use.

GE Fanuc's new servo motor has a continuous torque capability of 900Nm. This, combined with its maximum torque of 1,700nm, make the motor suitable for applications such as the new generation of modern electric plastic injection machines. It is also expected to appeal to designers of electric presses and other large industrial machines.

The new servo motor joins its two smaller models in the series, the a300 and a400, which GE Fanuc reports shipments of over a thousand worldwide since their introduction in March 1996. Instantaneous maximum torque output of the three models are 750, 1000 and 1,700Nm, respectively. All are capable of operating at a rated speed of 2,000 min-1.
