five new families of components

November 21, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (Malvern, PA) recently announced it is adding five new families of surface-mount, high-current components to its selection of inductors. The new components come in the 1813, 2218, 3020, 3114 and 3722 packages and have footprint diameters ranging from 4.5mm to 9.5mm and height profiles as low as 3.2mm. Inductance ranges for the new products are 1uH to 68uH for the IDCP-1813 Series, 3.3uH to 220uH for the IDCP-2219 Series, 10uH to 330uH for the IDCP-3114 Series, 10uH to 470uH for the IDCP-3020 Series and 10uH to 820uH for the IDCP-3722 Series. According to Vishay, dc resistance is as low as 33 milliohms for 1uH components in the 1813 package, with maximum current values as high as 3.8A. Inductance tolerances are specified at +/-20 percent, with +/-10 percent additionally available for devices rated above 47uH. These new inductors give designers a new, readily available option for dc-to-dc converter circuits and represent yet another opportunity to complete designs with both passive and active components for a single supplier, said Mike Husman, director of Product Marketing, Inductive and Thermistor Products. In quantities of 1,000, pricing is from $0.42 to $0.78 each in tape-and-reel packaging. Sample and production quantities are now available.
