Powerex Inc. (Youngwood, PA) announced a new family of boost regulator type modules suitable for use in dynamic brake applications for motor drives, and in certain dc chopper regulator applications. The U-Series modules consist of an IGBT with a reverse connected free-wheel diode plus an additional diode with its anode connected to the collector of the IGBT. The product family consists of modules rated 75-300A at 600V and 50-150A at 1200V and utilizes the low-inductance U-Series packaging. In quantities of 50, pricing for the CM75E3U-12H is from $27 each.
