Fairchild Unveils New 1,200V Stealth Diodes

July 02, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International (San Jose, CA) extended its line of Stealth fast- and soft-recovery diodes with the introduction of a new series of 1,200V, avalanche-energy-rated parts designed for switch-mode power supply, motor drive, uninterruptible power supply, welding power, induction heating, and other high-power/high-frequency applications.

Stealth technology combines fast/soft recovery switching with low reverse-recovery current to reduce switching transistor turn-on losses in hard-switched applications. Soft recovery minimizes ringing to expand the range of conditions under which the diode may be operated without using additional snubber circuitry, while reducing EMI and improving system reliability.

The new 1,200V Stealth diodes are available in single- and dual-packaged configurations in TO-220 and TO-247 packages, as well as in a surface-mount TO-263 (D2PAK) package. The ISL9R8120P2 is priced at $0.58, the ISL9R8120S3S is $0.62, the ISL9R30120G2 is $1.74, the ISL9K8120P3 is $0.92, and the ISL9K30120G3 is $2.87, all in 1,000-piece quantities.
